Initial drawings and colourful studies are made of living plants and the landscape around. These drawings are used to form the basis of the paintings. The images appear slowly, layer on layer, creating depth and form. There may be more than 30 layers of colour in the areas of densest colour. The method of working has a meditative quality to it.
These watercolour paintings are created from many layers of pure colour built one on top of the other, harnessing the vibrancy, clarity and light of this medium. The paintings are alive, glowing and vibrant, reflecting the inner light and energy of the plants and landscapes.
