Date/TimeDate(s) - 22/04/2017
10:00 am - 4:30 pm
A lovely relaxed venue with 2 acres of gardens around it in a rural setting.
The process of dyeing with indigo is magical.
On this one day workshop:
- You will learn to stitch and manipulate fabric to resist the dye (called shibori) creating beautiful patterns on fabric. Shibori is often described as “sophisticated tie dye”.
- Annabel will teach you many simple and effective ways of stitching the fabric and you will be amazed at the patterns you can make.
- Create your own unique textiles using stitch resist dyeing techniques. In the day you will create some small dyed pieces and make an original design for a cushion cover, bag, scarf or hanging.
You may have read or seen on the internet examples of these shibori techniques. It is so much easier to learn by doing it under the expert guidance of Annabel who uses shibori to create her beautiful lamps and lampshades of plant and landscape images.
An enjoyment of sewing is helpful, and the day is suitable for all levels of ability.
All materials are provided.
Annabel is a relaxed, friendly teacher and an expert guide to the art of stitch resist shibori and indigo dyeing.
This is a new venue for me, just outside Bridport, Dorset. It has lovely gardens and fields around to inspire you in your work. There is the possibility of staying at the venue should you be coming from a distance at very reasonable rates. We are right next to a farm shop with a cafe and another cafe just down the road for your lunch should you require it.
The cost for the day is £50 per person. This includes tea, coffee and cakes but bring your own lunch.
