New drum shades in shibori patterned silk and natural dyes

My latest textile light fittings have come from the shade manufacturing company, Albioncourt Ltd at Gillingham. A totally Dorset made product. I am making these lovely bold shades 60cm diameter in both silk and organic cotton and dyed with plant or procion dyes. The landscape image works so well running around the shade.
The shade shown here is fustic dyed silk.

Indigo dyed tube light fittings

These two indigo dyed and shibori patterned light fittings recently arrived from Idea Works in Gillingham who make my subtle designed fabrics into shades. They are shown together sitting to the side of a fireplace. They are wonderful for lighting up a dark corner, adding interest and a lively glow. The light fittings do work well in an interior when grouped together in twos or threes.

New light fittings arrive at Gallery on the Square, Poundbury

Three of my newest shibori patterned light fittings are now on display at The Gallery on the Square, Poundbury.

I just went in for a coffee today and Stephanie and Dave Murdoch, proprieters of Gallery on the Square saw photos of my latest fittings and asked if they could be delivered to the Gallery to compliment the current stunning exhibition by Kate Wyatt of hares and other wild creatures. The soft gold colours compliment the paintings of the hares.

Do try and visit the latest exhibition at the Gallery. The paintings are a joy to look at. You can glimpse some of the paintings in my photographs.

Colourful collagraph print made at Upwey Workshop

At the Collagraph workshop held at Upwey Old School Hall near Weymouth on 19th February Rachel made this lovely carmine coloured print of a flower. This was created by simply drawing on the card with a knife cutting away the surface. It was then rolled with ink and the raised areas held the ink and the cut away areas are white.

Textile Light Fittings completely Made in Dorset

A new batch of my shibori patterned tube light fittings have been delivered from Idea Works in Gillingham.
The fittings are mainly in golds and blues which tone in with current colour trends. I have used silks and cottons and natural and synthetic dyes to create the subtle and glowing colours.

The photograph shows a fat tubelight 90cm high in silk dyed with rhubarb root and showing the carrot flower design which is my hallmark. Plus a 75cm high thin tubelight with a plantain design on silk and dyed with barberry, a beautiful glowing yellow.
