Annabel Wilson: creative artist

image 1

Townhill Studio is the creative hub of Artist, Annabel Wilson’s work. Her fabric dyeing, painting and relief printmaking are all underpinned by an innate sense of design. Currently, the main output of the studio consists of dyed and printed textiles using natural clay dyes and indigo.

The textiles are stitched and bound using the ancient Japanese art of shibori. Patterns and designs are inspired by plants, natural forms and the stunning Dorset landscape which surrounds the studio complex.

Nestling in the rolling downs west of Dorchester in Dorset, Townhill Studio welcomes visitors throughout the year.

Textiles

Annabel Wilson’s exquisite hangings are made from fine cotton and linen fabrics, patterned and dyed using traditional methods. The fabric is stitched, folded and capped to create distinctive designs and then dyed, indigo, ochre, green, pink or yellow.  The panels are decorated with vintage buttons or block printing and specific motifs and designs are available in all the different colour-ways. Each hanging is hand-made and finished creating an individual and unique piece.
